The Twelve-Month Knitalong
Tricky Tricot and Franklin of The Panopticon (that's me) invite you to join us as we knit our way through 2006 using the patterns and techniques of Elizabeth Zimmermann's classic Knitter's Almanac.Join us for the full tour, or pick a month here and there. Knitter's choice.
The knitalong will officially begin on January 1, 2006.
As each month's project rolls into view, keep in mind that we're taking an approach that honors Elizabeth's work in spirit, not merely in letter. For example, my January Aran may well look more like a hat than a sweater. It's okay. The point is to, as Elizabeth so beautifully put it, "Knit on with confidence and hope, through all crises." It doesn't matter so much what you knit, as it does that you push yourself to try something new.
If you'd like to be listed on this blog as a participant, send an e-mail to franklinhabit at franklinhabit daht com that includes
- "Almanac Knitalong" in the subject line
- your name as you wish it to appear in the listing
- the full URL of your blog, if any

We'd like to thank Meg Swansen and Schoolhouse Press for granting us permission to use Walter Sheffer's beautiful photo of Elizabeth in the button. You rock, Meg.

Really strange - here I am a lurker and now I've posted twice in one day. Definitely count me in.
I can't believe that you are doing this. I have been thinking about doing the shawl in her book and changing it a little. I've just been wondering which yarn to use.
I must find my copy of Almanac!
Several years ago I started trying to work my way through the various chapters but ran out of steam, I think the time is right to re-visit it.
I'm going to enjoy this!!
as much as I so want to join, I think it would overwhelm me...but I love the idea. I've just got so many projects I have lined up. Tell me more, though. LOL

OH, and Tricky, are you a masochist, adding yet anothing thing to do to you list? LOL.
Great idea for a KAL! I've mentioned this over on my Yahoogroup EZasPi, so be ready for bunches of very silly folks wearing Pi shawls and bringing their own coffee and chocolate. :) www.ccrfuzzy.typepad.com
Is there going to be a central site/yahoo group where Almanac knitters can chime in with their own pics/comments etc. or will it be that this site will contain a list of AK'ers sites/emails etc to peruse at leisure? My site work is pretty basic for now, but let me know if you want me to put a list together.
